About Me

Hello - I’m Maisie, an illustrator specialising in pet portraits, paper-cut, printmaking and drawing. After studying art at GCSE level, achieving Grade 8 (A*), I studied a Level 3 Diploma and a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at Lincoln College. I am now finishing my Illustration degree at the University of Lincoln.

I am plant-obsessed girl surrounded by the countryside of Lincolnshire, where I find a lot of my inspiration. When I’m not illustrating landscapes, I try to incorporate nature into my work with the use of plants and earthy tones.

I have recently found a new love of paper-cut illustration during my time at university. Using paper that I have inked up myself, I delicately cut out pieces to make up my illustrations. This creates depths through the layers of paper and the ways the paper can bend and fold.

Printmaking has also been a great passion of mine. The printmaking techniques I enjoy the most are Screen-print, Lino-print and Gelli-plate printing. I am still finding myself as a printmaker and hope to do a lot more experimenting in the near future.

During the lockdown in 2020, I did my first pet portrait for a close friend of mine, which proved very popular. I carried on drawing people’s beloved pets until 2024, when I decided I needed to spend more time on my degree. This is something I hope to still do after I complete my course.

2020 was the year I first sold my work, both commissions and small prints and greetings cards. My college opened up a pop-up shop for the very popular Lincoln Christmas Market, where I then found my love of creating art commercially. For the following 2 years I spent at college, my set-up got bigger and bigger, selling cards, prints, tote bags and Christmas ornaments. From then I began selling my work at other markets in and around Lincoln. You can find some of these products in my online shop!
